What are reasons for car insurance claims denial?

If you have an accident in Florida and make a claim with your insurance provider, you probably expect a quick resolution. After all, you pay your premiums on time and put a lot of trust in your insurance company to keep up its end of the agreement. However, your insurer may deny your claim. There are various reasons this may occur.

According to ValuePenguin, one of the top reasons for a claim denial is that you broke the law when the damage occurred. Your insurer does not have to pay for claims that result from your own negligence.

Another common reason is you do not have adequate coverage. If you submit a claim for repairs to your vehicle but you do not carry comprehensive coverage, then the insurer will deny it. You have not paid for that service, so the insurer is under no obligation to provide it to you.

You also need to keep an eye on your policy limits. Submitting claims for less than your deductible will result in a denial because you have to pay for any amount under your deductible. In addition, if you submit a claim for more than the coverage you paid for, the insurer will not approve it.

Finally, another reason you may get a denial is if you submitted false information when setting up your policy. If you lie on your initial paperwork and the company finds out, it voids your coverage. This information is for education and is not legal advice.
