What are some signs of a bad insurance company?

You expect an insurance provider in Jacksonville to provide with qualified assistance, whether you’re filing a claim or simply asking a question. However, this isn’t always the case. The fact remains that there are some unscrupulous insurance agents out there and getting involved with one can cost you quite a bit of money. That’s why The Balance offers the following advice, which will help you get the coverage you need.

There are no credentials to speak of

A good insurance company will have a physical address, complete with phone number and email. It will also possess a license, which is issued by state authorities in many cases. When looking for an agency, request the license number so you can perform due diligence. If the agent is without proper licensing, keep looking.

Premiums are paid to the agent directly

Premiums for an insurance policy are almost always paid to the company itself. If your agent requests that premiums be directed to his or her personal bank account, take this as a red flag. In the event you do need to pay an agent for some reason, be sure to get a receipt. That way if any issues arise, you’ll have proof that payment was made.

You feel pressured to sign up right away

You should never feel pressured to sign a contract. A reputable insurance provider will allow you ample time to decide and will not feel the need to use tactics involving increases in pricing or other manipulative measures. If you feel pressured or that you must make a decision immediately to get a good price, the provider is likely not what it seems.
